Marine Biologist in Training - Online Camp

Marine Biologist in Training - Online Camp

SIMRS is excited to partner with Sea Smart as a mentor for a week-long virtual camp for young girls aspiring to become Marine Biologists. Our own researcher/educator Sydney Dixon will be talking about our Sea Star Stewardship Program and sharing her own tips and advice on how to get a career in marine research.

“Sea Smart’s Girls-Only Marine Biologist in Training (MBIT) online program will challenge the widely-held stereotype that STEM (Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) careers are for boys, and instead provide a canvas for girls to learn, flourish and enroot a sense of belonging in STEM. Girls in our program will learn about the scientific method, marine sciences, and careers in marine-related STEM fields. We will be hosting professional women in STEM to discuss their work and answer questions about pursuing a career in STEM. These will be inspirational talks by female scientist guest speakers from university students, researchers, and women in the industry.”

Check out https://seasmartschool.com/mbit-online for more information and to register.
